Chill Style
There is something to be said for the dig. I will do it so you don’t have to.
My friend Erika gave me this book that is maybe the most on-brand gift I’ve ever received. In a nutshell: buy things that will last, don’t buy too much, leotards are king, thrifting is queen, and the 70’s will forever be the only era that matters. Follow along for my random musings and the search for the perfect everythings.
Vibe Check
Gingham has my heart forever and ever. These pants from the Uniqlo x Princesse Tam Tam collab and this swimsuit from Aerie make me feel like a summer picnic (probably the first thing I have ever bought from them?) The dig is deep you guys. On the splurge side are these pants from Toast I have always coveted but never bit the bullet on. Also, someone buy this please.
For When you Scratch or Lose all your Sunnies
I have a drawer of 10 of these (hopefully will last me my lifetime) and have never received more compliments on a frame (sorry old Celine. You’re beautiful but way to fragile and expensive to be kept in my loose purse). I even have the cute cloud Baggu case (that comes in Gingham now!) that I always forget to use. My friend Natalie knows whats up (below).
Name Something More Charming than Hand-done Embroidery?
I scored this in Austin at Prototype but have been seeing them pop up at Rose Bowl Flea lately. Loving this Sezane one (not hand-made obvi). This, this and this on Etsy! The ones on vintage Big Mac (JCPenny’s house brand that launched in the 1920’s) chambrays are so soft and airy. I wore mine this week with Adidas track pants (a treasure from the boy’s section of Savers).
I Wish Ganni Still Made this Hat.
I almost cried when I thought I lost it! I can’t ever find them used (I need a backup) but these come close. Ganni, Lack of Color, Aerie (it matches the swimsuit guys and you know I got both), and this Alpha 60 one my Aussie pal was rocking was the exact shape of the patient zero check Ganni!
Koala Blue RIP
I didn’t buy this sweatshirt at the Rose Bowl Flea Market and just can’t quite commit to the prices online but I am getting closer. Olivia Newton John had a milk bar and clothing line in the 80’s/90’s that my friends who grew up in LA were talking about the other day. Have you ever seen a more perfect logo?
